Beyond the Walls" Projects and Leaders 

 Health Care Ministry - Lancer Martin and Shirley Jones   

  • Participate in an annual blood drive at SJMBC or elsewhere.
  • Hold annual public health screening and educational forum for diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension, breast cancer and prostate cancer at SJMBC.                                

 Nursing Home Ministry - Ramona Newsom and Betty Love

  •  Make hand made throws, bibs and other items for nursing home residents.
  • Join the music ministry at least twice a year in fellowship with nursing home residents.
  • Adopt a nursing home resident to send greeting cards to during the year.

Prison, Jail and Homeless Ministry - Dr. Larry Jones and Betty Theus  

  • Obtain proper volunteer training that allows access to visit jail inmates and their families.
  • Obtain proper volunteer training that allows access to visit prison inmates and their families.
  • Collect items that are recommended for Christmas gifts for inmates and/or their children
  • Visit the Salina Rescue Mission once a year for men to men ministry.       

 Visitation Ministry - Ivory and Ruthie Ledet

  •  Make home visits to the sick and shut-ins
  • Make hospital visits.
  • Make visits to nursing homes.
  • Make telephone calls to sick and shut-in's.
  • Send greeting cards to sick and shut-in's.

Elder Care Ministry - Gary Shoemaker and Brenda Hood

  • Provide spring and fall yard clean-up for seniors needing assistance.
  • Shovel snow in the winter.
  • Provide transportation to bank, pharmacy, doctors' appointments, health screenings and /or grocery store.
  • Help seniors with house cleaning.
  • Take seniors to the Senior Center for lunch and/or special programs.
  • Help the elderly secure taxi vouchers
  • Offer support for the primary at-home caregiver

Nuture and Feed the Children Ministry - Alene Nalls and Debbie Turner   

  • Provide funds to help fill the weekend backpacks program at Cottonwood School.
  • Identify men and women from our church to get involved in the Salina Big Brother/Big Sister Program and /or in a foster parent or grand parent program.
  • Plan a College Student Sunday and invite students to worship service followed by dinner.                                               

 Military Care Packages - Keith Price and Vickie Wilcher

  • Send care packages to military personnel serving overseas.
  • Help our troops call home by bringing in your use cell phones. (Re-cycled phones are used to purchase calling cards for soldiers).
  • Plan a military Sunday inviting soldiers stationed here in Salina to worship service followed by dinner.

 Overall Community Outreach Ministries

  • Annual clothing and gospel tract give away for the public
  • Annual "Beyond the Walls Work Day".
  • Christmas Outreach of needy families.  Shop for food, toys and clothing.
  • Relief response to needs as a result of natural disasters or emergencies.
  • Maintain outreach facility to collect and distribute food and clothing to the need.
  • Benevolent assistant as the need may arise.
